Two master classes will again be offered this coming July: Costuming and Directing!

Costuming
Jim Rancilio will bring an expanded version of the well-received costume workshops he conducted at the 2010 Fall Conference.  Topics to be covered include working with color and fabric and designing costumes for the cast and resources you have (budget, costumes in stock, and body types of actors).  Some hands-on and fun activities are planned.

Jim has served as costumer for Flint Community Players for many years and is considered one of Michigan's outstanding community theatre costumers.

Directing
CTAM is excited to be able to offer a Master Class in Directing conducted by Kathy Pingel and Ron Ziegler of Des Moines, Iowa.

Kathy and Ron are not strangers to CTAM.  Kathy was an adjudicator at our State AACTFest in February, while her husband Ron conducted the adjudication training course.  Ron also attended our 2009 Fall Conference in his capacity as AACT’s Field Services Director.

Kathy is the Director of Education and Youth Programming at the Des Moines Playhouse and is the Artistic Director of the Kate Goldman Children’s Theatre. She received her BA in theatre at Eastern Michigan University and her MA from Northwestern University.

Before joining the staff of AACT, Ron was Associate Director of the Des Moines Playhouse.  He had also served as managing director of the Sioux Falls Community Theatre and as Executive Director at Orlando Repertory.  He received his BA in theatre from Northern State University and his MA from University of South Dakota.

Ron and Kathy will team-teach the class dealing with directing techniques. This class in NOT intended for those who have never directed. Whether you have directed one show or scores, you will leave this class with an arsenal of directing ideas.

Once again the rates for lodging, including meals, is kept as low as possible at $179 for one person sharing a double room and $195 for a single.  And the fee for the class is only $60 ($50 for individual CTAM members).
